I looked up the inspirational National Geographic photographer who's Nov 1997 Northwoods Journal I mentioned earlier. His name is Jim Brandenburg. He shares some comments on his photo essay with The Trust for Public Land.

A truly great book. I have a copy and am amazed at the consistant quaulity, inspiration, diversity, and spirit in every photagraph.
Jim Brandenburg is an incredible photographer. In one of my photo classes we discussed his work. The instructor had met Jim and was friends with him. If you ever get the chance his works are on display in Duluth, MN. The next time I am up that way I hope to spend some time looking at the real images...not just pixels on the screen.
